Psalm 120

A Cry for Truth and Peace

A song of ascents.

1 In my distress I called to the Lord, and He answered me:
2Lord, deliver me from lying lips and a deceitful tongue.”
3 What will He give you, and what will He do to you, you deceitful tongue?
4 A warrior’s sharp arrows, with burning charcoal!
5 What misery that I have stayed in Meshech, that I have lived among the tents of Kedar!
6 I have lived too long with those who hate peace.
7 I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war.

Kristy Anderson's Psalm 120

Lord, my heart is weary. I need to hear from you.
Protect me from the evil that would like to shred my heart, or make me like them.
How I rejoice in knowing you are my deliverer. You alone deliver justice. I will wait on you.
Show me how to speak in a land that wants conflict and strife.
Guard my tongue and be a shield about me.
